Incorporated in 1945, Katy, Texas is a city that is just West of Houston, Texas. Katy is one of the fastest growing and most desirable cities in the whole Houston area. Katy is found where Harris County, Waller County and Fort Bend County all 3 join together.
Originally, the community was known as Cane Island, named after Cane Island Creek that runs though it. In 1895 it was laid out and platted as Katy and it’s 1st Post Office opened the next year in 1896. The hurricane that hit Galveston in 1900 destroyed almost all of the buildings in Katy yet they rebuilt and continued to grow. Katy was formally incorporated in 1945.
The main industries in Katy were cotton, peanuts and rice farming. Katy has been recognized in major publications as one of the nations most highest quality of life, highly regarded schools and it’s well educated and affluent population.

Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
This masterfully designed Greg Norman golf course can be played from 5,000 to 7,100 yards with multiple tees, sod-wall bunkers with white sand and greens that are generous, subtle and approachable. The par-72 course is nestled among a multitude of hardwood trees, creeks, lakes, and wetlands terrain - framed by true native prairie grasses and wildflowers - all of which promote creative shot strategy. Among the facility's most notable features are its GN-1 (hybrid Bermudagrass) tees, fairways, and roughs all created by Greg Norman Turf Company. The putting greens are Floradwarf and the perimeter roughs are native grasses and wildflowers.

MKT Railroad Depot & Park
This downtown “pocket park” is home to the historic
Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Depot, which has been restored to serve at the Visitors Center. It is a central location for tourist and visitors to obtain information, brochures and maps for the City of Katy and Katy businesses. The Katy Heritage Society Railroad Museum inside the Depot displays many original elements and explains how the Depot operated as a passenger rail service in Katy until 1957. The Heritage Society’s red caboose is also located on the beautifully landscaped site with benches and a town clock.
